Stanford Talisman 35th Anniversary Concert
Somehow another 5 years has past, and it is time for Stanford Talisman’s 35th anniversary concert. The last concert was in February of 2020 –just before shelter-in-place orders came into full effect, and other paradigm shifts that make that concert feel a lifetime ago. In this concert, we sing songs born from social movements as a way to (re)connect with stories of radical hope, grief, and solidarity.

Constants in the Dynamic: A conversation exploring the principles of artistic learning and practice
Apoorva Jayaraman and Shweta Prachande give a talk that reflects on the practice of art (through the lens of the Indian classical dance form, Bharatanatyam) under the challenges brought by a global pandemic and explores the questions of how students of art can continue to incorporate the same rigor, values, and ethics employed in the studio with the transition to the online medium, and what principles of self-practice are needed to make artistic pursuits most productive despite the pandemic, the limited time and numerous demands of college careers, the sheer distance between Stanford and home studios, and beyond.
I was fortunate enough to be an alumni guest, and discuss with Apoorva and Shweta the importance of osmosis, embodiment, and learning across artistic disciplines, and how we might be able to scale and translate this sensation outside of the artistic world.

Guest Lecture: "Circles, Coltrane, & Colors"
I was fortunate enough to be a guest lecturer at Hinsdale South High School in Illinois for 100+ band students via Zoom. My lecture was on my compositional inspirations, among which is the “Coltrane Circle”. Interwoven throughout this lecture was my own personal journey from a high school band student to the composer/soprano I am now.

Stanford Talisman 30th Anniversary Concert
Stanford Talisman is an a cappella group dedicated to sharing music and stories from all around the world. I was quite active in this group both as a singer and arranger during my time at Stanford, and in this upcoming concert, my first ever arrangement for the group will be performed. Excited to re-live great memories, and see beloved friends!
You can listen to the recording of this performance here!

REVIVAL: Millennial Remembering in the Afro NOW
Within Amara Tabor-Smith's Afro-Futurist dance theater work, Stanford Talisman a capella and Stanford’s Chocolate Heads collaborated on a re-imagined "One Nation Under a Grove." Stephanie Fischer was vocal director/arranger for this collaboration, where she worked alongside Aleta Hayes, choreographer, and Geonnie Adams, instrumentalist/composer.
